Hotel Review: Mode Sathorn Hotel, Silom, Bangkok. Best hotel stay ever!

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

Hello you, hope your long weekend was awesome!

Leon and I kicked off our super sinful weekend at The Grandstand where leon wanted to bring me for some pancakes at Slappy Cakes, but there was like an hour wait or so and I hate waiting for food
[No way! Like seriously why would i? Singapore is full of delicious food at every corner, by the time i wait an hour for my food i'd be so grumpy and pissed off]

So instead we checked out PasarBella, thank god we arrived and found our seats upstairs right before the lunch crowd hits.

Man oh man did we over-order or what?
1 sweet crepe.1 savory crepe, 1 pizza, 1 pasta, 1 soup, 2 crodos!

The lemon crepe, so delish and it's only $4!
Totally craving for one of these right now.

Finally got to try out these Cro-Do [Crossiant + Donuts]
Mmmm, the Lemon curd + Meringue is heavenly.

Operating Hours: 9:30am to 7pm [Some stalls will close at 7pm]

Then after pigging out at PasarBella we had an hour to kill
so we drove over to Fairways Drive near the Grandstand to Marmalade Pantry for tea because we so full!
After tea we drove over to meet the JJ/Leehom tour band because JunYang was back in Singapore
so he was in total pigging out mode and wanted to bring everyone down with him
so we will all turn into fatties haha thus the crazy amt of food.

So to continue on our sinful weekend, we booked our bangkok trip during March or so?
Triple couple trip for Leon + myself, nadnut + David, Jacelyn + Ben.

Since we had a good 4 days off work, i took an additional 2 days off work. Lol i absolutely love travelling with the fiance, it seems like with him i'm always experiencing all sorts of crazy epic shit, and of course because he loves to make fun of everything and he makes me crack up all the time.

Since our last two trips [Sydney/Melbourne + Taiwan] they were all work trips for Leon so he was pretty stressed and had to run all over the place for rehearsals, concert etc the entire time so it's been a good half year since we took a vacation off work to really have a stress free time and have some lovey dovey couple time. ♡♡♡

So we searched on Agoda.com and short listed a couple pretty awesome hotels, the hotel industry in bkk is so competetive! Every hotel looks AMAZING, not to mention crazy affordable!

Rates per night: on average $40
At Mind Executive Suites

Rates per night: on average $60
Grass Suites

In the end, Mode Sathorn Hotel won our hearts because it's just looking so gorgeous!
I've never really looked forward to staying in a hotel that much but this one is pretty awesome.

Our flight was 7+am so it was soooo tiring to drag our feets to the airport, the fiance is so sweet to arrange for advance cab booking and printing all the needed itinerary/ hotel booking for us, checking in online and changing thai baht because i was so busy with work the entire week. Awww baby you're the best! ♡

Our pink and yellow fat bitches.

So we filled our half awake tummies with yummy chiew kueh at the hotel lounge and the dragged our feets to the boarding gate just in time to board! Hoho up and away as we go on our 5 day long vacation!

Landed safely and first thing we did was head to the TrueMove counter to get connected yo. Hahah
I chose the 199baht package [super cheap! like less than 5SGD?!] which is the smallest package and it was enough for 5 days since the hotel has super fast wi-fi anyway.

Whoa but it took CRAZY long [it was about 40 mins we got every done and good to go!]
cos obviously there's a shit long queue full of tourist, raaaah luckily leon was around for my entertatinment sake. hahaha
So we took a cab and headed over to Mode Sathorn Hotel, woots!
From the airport to the bangkok city area, it takes about 45 mins.

Love the egg swinging chairs! Wonder if we'll be able to fit one in our future home's balcony area

While we were waiting for our room, we're pretty surprised that they would allow early check in
[we were at the hotel at about 10plus to11am, i'd assume the usual check in time is around 2pm?]
and we were prepared to just leave our luggage at the concierge and head out to eat if we can't check in yet.

We were ushered to the ground and mezzanine floor, BLD Bistro which serves drinks, sandwiches and pastries etc and we were offered to pick out a complimentary welcome drink on the menu, how sweet!

They have a super awesome looking spa in the hotel, infinity pool + Jacuzzi bed on level 10 & 3 restaurants and 2 bars in this hotel, it's so new that the rooftop bar hasn't even open yet.

Lol David [nadnut's hubby] is damn cute la, first thing he told us was like omg shiok can order beer for complimentary welcome drink! hahaha but we're like total kiddos, ordering fizzy drinks and milkshakes hehe

I had a refreshing Elderflower soda and Leon had the banana milkshake!
Love my Dolce Vita flats i got from taiwan, all leather and sooo comfy + it goes with everything so it's the perfect footwear for a holiday.

LOL as usual i'm always bullying him, bua the cream all over his face for fun.

Gosh the room really wow-ed us, the both of us has never went ra-ra for any hotel room [esp Leon since he travels on tour as often as 4 times a month and stayed in a crazy number of hotels for the past 1.5 years for Leehom + JJ Lin's tour] but this place.. GOD IT'S AWESOME!

We were just gonna get in, dump our luggages and head out to hunt for food but in the end we spent about an hour or so ooh and ahhhing over the room, taking photos, checking out the view and all.

Entry walk of the room, clear view to the bathroom!

 Bathtub

There's the mirror and vanity right on the right and a rainshower on the right
with a separate toilet nearer to the entrance of the room.

We totally would take some inspiration from this room for our future home. (:

Whoops the teddy bear is mine. haha

The view from our room [Level 16] to the pool, we changed room later that day will blog about why on my next post to level 23 and the view is even more amazing!!!

short insta video of the hotel room, lol!

It's located right smack beside Surasak BTS Station on North Sathorn, two-stop from Sala Daeng Station on Silom Road, 4 stops away from bustling Siam/MBK/Platinum where you can shop till you drop.

Love that they have a turndown service that they would come and prepare the quilt comfortably and place the comfy room slippers by the bed, hahah i didn't know it was the turndown service until david pointed it out! Lol i assumed it was Leon my ahem haha manslave who placed it there hahaha.

All in all it was a wonderful stay, the service is top-notch, rooms were beautfully designed and it feels absolulely like a home away from home and it was an awesome 5 days staying there. Right now I think it's a super affordable stay because it's newly launched, but i hope they wouldn't adjust the room rates way too high because i'd definitely love to come back to stay if the room rates are reasonable!

PS: You can search for Mode Sathorn Hotel on Agoda.com, we booked the deluxe room hotel stay there for about SGD90 per night, at the request column during the online booking i requested for a non-corner room and specifically the Metropolitan Chic room as they have 3 room designs.
You can check out their website to see which room design you prefer! (:
